Americans have a whole series of restaurant jokes featuring a complaining customer and a smart-alec waiter. Here are three of Alan's favorites. See if you get the humor.
A man walks into a bar and orders three drinks.
A guy walks into a bar, and things happen when he takes two frogs and a hamster out of his pocket.
Paraprosdokians are a special type of humor. Here are several examples that will tickle your funny bone!
A drifter comes into town and asks if there are any odd jobs he could do.
What's So Funny?
The drifter misunderstands the woman's job instructions. She says to paint the porch, but he thinks she says the Porsche (which is an expensive car). Both Porsches and BMWs are expensive German-made cars.
On the street, a drunk walks up to another person and asks, “What time is it?”
The person says, “It’s 10 o’clock.”
The drunk says, “I must be going crazy. All day long I keep getting different answers.”
What's So Funny?
The drunk keeps getting different answers to his question because he keeps asking at different times of the day.
The reality of the above joke is seen in the truth of the following observation: Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
Feel Like You Belong is a sometimes serious, sometimes funny, always “touch-your-heart” real conversation about fitting into the American culture.
